The main objective of the project is to improve cross-border cooperation of destination organizations on the Slovak-Hungarian border in order to conceptually set the marketing of the affected area. The Košice region and the Abov region are among the less developed and exposed destinations in the Slovak-Hungarian market. These destinations cannot be equal with the Tatras, Bratislava or Budapest in terms of the number of visitors. We attribute this fact to their location at the eastern borders and to difficult accessibility, for example due to the lack of a motorway connection.
However, these near border destination has great potential for tourism development. We can find here great tourism offer of cultural heritage, healing waters, protected areas of European importance, and an interesting cultural life.
For this reason, we plan to develop marketing strategies for both regions on the basis of a common approach to the problems of a this cross-border territory and to create a common website to promote the territory jointly as a destination.
We expect the project to create a long-term partnership, increase the competitiveness of border destinations on the tourism market and increase the number of visitors to border destinations.
