The program area (Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, Košice Region) is an area separated by national borders but but they have a common culture. It have been considered as  a peripheral area for decades, central management limited its development. It is an economically and socially disadvantaged area, characterized by extremely high unemployment, emigration and an aging population. The cultural development of the program area requires the cooperation of the representatives of the area and the implementation of joint development programs. Joint project of Döge and Veľké Trakany   is trying to revitalize cross-border relations by culture. Owing to the project, cultural attractions of a high standard will significantly extend: There are 4 cultural festivals  (Dögei Krumplifesztivál, Libagaliba, Nagytárkányi Folklór Találkozó, Nagytárkányi Kulturális Napok), Döge is planning to organize a sports day and kindergarten teachers share their experiences and knowledge within the framework of professional meeting in Döge.                                                                                                                                The comprehensive aim of the project is to widen the attractions of cultural tourism in the region. The rich cultural offer will also encourage young professionals to remain in the region. It will promote higher specific spending and consequently the economy will develop, new jobs will be created, the local population’s quality of life will improve. The longer stay of tourists will increase the number of guest nights and increase the competitiveness of the region.
