With regard to the eastern Slovak-Hungarian border area, the migration rate is significant and the population is decreasing. The share of emigrants is particularly high among young people (20-35) due to unfavorable employment prospects. In order to attract young people back home or keep them there, it is also necessary for young people to become more aware of the rich cultural values of the region and thus to be more closely linked to their homeland, in addition to improving the economic environment.
The aim of the project is to develop and organize cultural cooperation activities in the border region, to present and popularize the region's folk culture and cultural heritage among young people. Furthermore, strengthening and consolidating cultural exchanges, thus promoting the development of tourism, and creating a multicultural environment in the border region through the cooperation of the two applicant organizations. The project targets the entire population of the border region (especially young people).
The cooperation of the partner organizations makes it possible to establish new international relations. Thanks to the cultural and tourist activities of the project, young people from the region can get in active contact with each other, broaden their horizons, and last but not least, young artists from both sides of the border get publicity and opportunity to introduce themselves.
The project includes festivals and events in Vásárosnamény (Hungary) and Makranc (Slovakia). Ethno-folk concerts, literary and historical talks / lectures and workshops on diverse subjects are organized at events featuring folk music and local values, gastronomical presentations
