An important event in the life of the participating cities of Abaújszántó and Kosice is the Košice Wine Festival and the Abaújszántó Harvest Festival. The motive for this event is the historical fact that in the Middle Ages the city of Kosice had wine cellars in the city of Abaújszanto, in what is today situated in the Hungarian Tokaj region. To commemorate and revive this historic fact, the two related wine tourism events (WINEFEST) will be held in both cities in September 2020. The festival's motto is "Where the modern is connected to the traditional" - and this is the philosophy the partners intend to pursue in the coming years. It is a long-term concept for boosting wine tourism and traveling to taste different types of wine.
