The main aim of the project is to increase the attractiveness of the cross-border area, to better utilize tourism potential, to boost cycling tourism in accordance with the principles of sustainable tourism. In frame of the project we will develop a 250 km long virtual cross-border thematic cycling and hiking trail between Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Kosice counties which focuses on the natural and cultural heritage of the border area in the historical Zemplén, Abaúj and Bodrogköz regions. Existing infrastructure (e.g. bicycle paths) will be used for the trail. The two end points of the trail are the settlements Debrad’ (SK) and Szabolcs (HU) where the necessary tourism infrastructure is available: accommodation, catering…etc.
The developed cycling trail and related information will be available through several channels in Hungarian and Slovak. We will create a subpage on the website of Vidék Kincse Egyesület, which will contain the cycling trail, tourist attractions, accommodations, restaurants and other service providers. 500 pieces will be printed from the publication containing the trail, and it could be also downloaded from the website.
A thematic educational trail in Debrad’ will be created which will introduce the municipality and related legends.
In the frame of the project the necessary equipment will be purchased: 6 bicycles, 1 covered bike stop (with bicycle storage and dining opportunities) and 1 bicycle trailer.
