The mountainous region of the Hornád River, the Szalánc Mountains (SK), the Zemplén Mountains (HU), the lowland river of the Bodrog River and the Tokaj wine region on both sides of the border embraces our target area.
The Tokaj region's uniqueness lies in the fact that it is perfect for growing grapes in harmony with the climate and the soil. To presenting the Tokaj brand, the unified Tokaj region has been serving the unified attitude and well-functioning cooperation of the people on both sides of the border for centuries.
There are many historical, cultural and natural attractions in the area. Due to the shared use of natural resources in the mountainous region between the two rivers, the same mining development history is remarkable. Today, the resettlement of the countryside is proving to be an excellent opportunity to increase the number of visitors to the area and develop the cross-border region.
The development of the area and its enhancement is possible by making cross-border areas more interconnected and closer.
The project's main objective is to increase the preparedness of the area defined by the Bodrog and Hornád rivers in the field of cross-border cooperation. We want to achieve this by thoroughly analyzing the region and its potential, building a network of local actors and setting up cross-border partnerships, followed by a repository of cross-border projects.
Following the project's implementation, the primary outcome will be a trilingual (SK / HU / EN) strategy document with a significant cross-border impact on the target area. This strategy paper will serve as a basis for cross-border development over the next 7-year programming period.
