The most significant people in the history of settlement Janík were belonging to the Sziklay family. Ede Sziklay was the shirra of Gömör County, the shireman of Abaúj County and also the honorary citizen of city Kassa. Ede Sziklay’s daughter  Szeréna Sziklay – has started from a small village and became a known poetess at an important moment of the Hunagrian history. Their life-work was characterized by togetherness, patriotism and new innovations referring to the future. One of the project’s aims is to create a public space, where we can devise a memorial place for the family. This place will symbolize the two countries common memories and spirit and their convergence as well. Lajos Hatvany Museum will contribute to the project as a partner. The institute will help to create the memorial place and provide professional and technical help. Within the frames of the project we plan to establish a public and cultural festival, on both of the places. In Hatvan, during the ’II. Hatvany Kultúrzsongás Fesztivál’ we will present a new exhibition about the life-work of family Sziklay. In addition, we plan musical programs and theater plays with prominant members of the Hunagrian artistic life. The festival gives a possibility to Janík and its area to present their face to the audience. During the festival of Janík, arrangers undertake to create a conference with historian and literary topic. The program will supplemented by performances of local associations and also by Hungarian artists. The workers of Lajos Hatvany Museum will research the life-work of the Sziklay family. They create a collection of archive photos and finally publish an album in Hungarian, Slovakian and English language.
