The main objective of the project is to increase the attractiveness of the border region, to make more effective use of its natural and cultural potential and to increase the number of young people visiting the region. Another aim is to increase the awareness of children and young people about the natural and cultural values and traditions of the participating regions (Heves and Košice counties), as the participating settlements and their environment have many attractions and cultural traditions.
Szihalom is located in Heves County with a favorable geographical location and outstanding natural and built environment.
The village of Silica lies in the central part of the Silica plateau, at an altitude of 530 meters, most of its extensive border belongs to the Slovak Karst National Park.
In order to raise awareness of the natural values and local culture of the border region, thematic children's camps focusing on these will be organized in Szihalom (HU) and Silica (SK) and the necessary infrastructure development will be implemented.
The project involves a total of 20-20 children in 5-day joint camps which are organized in such a way that children from both Slovakia and Hungary can participate at the same time so that they can get to know each other's natural and cultural values better.
The project will include the construction of a wooden house campsite and a complimentary sanitary facility in Szihalom, while a similar campsite for 20 guests will be built on the Slovakian side in Silica with the possibility for setting tents as well.
The development will help to increase the number of visitors in the affected regions, as the infrastructure will be available to school groups, families and friends even after the project has been completed.
