The main aim of the project is to preserve and develop the cultural heritage of the Slovak-Hungarian cross-border area for tourism purposes, thus to increase of the attractiveness of the border area and the number of visitors. 

Industrial heritage is part of the cultural heritage which includes both historical memories and currently operating industrial units, machines and intellectual heritage. The demand for heritage tourism is increasing nowadays. Industrial heritage – more specifically mining - is an integral part of the settlements’ culture participating in the project: lignite mining in Bükkábrány and limestone mining in Host’ovce. The aim of the project is to present this heritage to the general public trough exhibitions and joint programs (e.g.: guided tours, mine tours, presentations, playful contests, craft programs, arcade games…etc). The project will have the following results: 1 outdoor exhibition park, 1 exhibition hall showing the mining heritage of the participating municipalities; 1-1 thematic information days on both sides of the border, 1-1 professional conference together with the opening ceremony of the investments.
Results of the project are thematically linked to other attractions in the project areas, so the multiplier effect is ensured: Bükkalja, Bükk mountains and Slovak Karst have unique natural treasures, flora and fauna, as well as other industrial heritage sites. Mining traditions which are integral parts of the settlements’ history – together with modern technologies – can be a local community organizing force and can be a starting point of eco-tourism innovations.
