The aim of this project is the realization of a cultural event - a common Slovak-Hungarian folklore festival. This is a unique event of its kind. In 2019, the 24th annual MNFF - "International New Folk Folklore Festival" will take place. The event was originally conceived as a traveling festival on the territory of the historic Novohrad, the border region of the Hungarian and Slovak side, where Slovak and Hungarian folklore ensembles will be presented on both sides of the border in a few days, including the participation of invited foreign ensembles.
The purpose of the event has been since the founding improving neighborly relations as well as interpersonal relations in regions with a nationally mixed population. In the project, from the beginning, the institutional cooperation of the Slovak and Hungarian sides as well as the cross-border cooperation of the citizens, the development of the interest in common history and traditions, common cross-border activities, the improvement of inter-human relations among the inhabitants of the ethnically mixed territory were built. At the same time, it is possible to say that with more than twenty years of tradition, although in recent years the festival was realized only on the Slovak side (for organizational reasons) it is a long-term cooperation and a sustainable event in both the Novohrad - Banskobystrický kraj (SK032) Nógrád megye (HU312).
