The main objective of the project is to strengthen cooperation between organizations in the cross-border area, to establish long-term institutionalized partnership, to develop and organize joint professional programs related to the folk art heritage. The project partners pay special attention to familiarize the younger generations with the folk traditions. The mission of the project is to convey love and respect for folk values and to pass on the knowledge of tradition to young people.
The areas involved in the project (Bodva-valley, Nyírség) have a very rich folk art heritage as a single ethnographic landscape. The history of living together in common roots has created almost identical folk traditions. In addition to the importance of folk dance and crafts, gastronomic traditions play an important role in the life of the region.
The partners target the different target groups with different activities in order to achieve results in the most effective way. Some of the activities are public events for a wide range of people, while others are for professional purposes.
1) Organizing 3 festivals dedicated to folk art and gastronomy.
2) Organizing 2 interactive folk arts and crafts exhibitions.
3) Organizing 5 professional conferences for professional NGOs with the participation of ethnographers and folk craftsmen, providing opportunities for exchange of experience and knowledge transfer.
4) Organization of 1-1 study tour (safeguarding of folk values, learning about and transferring good practices that preserve traditions, employment policy and job creation opportunities to preserve traditions).
