The mission of ZOOs around the world has changed over time, from simple demonstration of exotic animals through scientific studies to animal husbandry and rescue. ZOOs strive to keep animals in an environment similar to that in which they live in the wild, thus providing visitors with a unique experience and contributing to biodiversity. Both partners strive to be dynamic ZOOs, to implement activities and procedures aimed at promoting nature conservation and at the same time to provide visitors with unusual experiences, as we are becoming increasingly preferred “tourist destinations”. Our main objective is to support the development of tourism by raising public awareness of the conservation of natural values, with an emphasis on protected animal species living in regions of common border areas and enhancing Europe's natural heritage. This inadvertently includes complementary activities and steps such as a high-quality information system with an emphasis on environmental education and training and especially the orientation of the visitor in the ZOO. Together, by the prepared project, we plan to implement activities, namely: Modern information system in ZOO Košice and Extension of mobile map application developed in 2019 in ZOO - Nyíregyháza Állatpark for Slovak speaking visitors. The free app called  ’SÓSTÓ ZOO’ will be available for mobile phones and does not require internet after download, as there is not always available internet at the zoo. Information systems will enable visitors to plan their trips in the ZOO.
The aim of the project is to improve the quality of services provided in the ZOO as tourism products in order to increase regional and economic development, preserve cultural and natural values and increase attendance in the program area.
