The main aim of the project is to preserve and utilize the cultural heritage of the Slovak-Hungarian cross-border area for tourism purposes, thus to increase of the attractiveness of the border area and the number of visitors. Located in the northern part of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county and in the south of Košický kraj, Abaúj-Torna region has rich cultural traditions and unique natural sights which are currently less known and less exploited. In this small-village-area, there are many poor, socially disadvantaged settlements, where the offers of high-quality cultural programs are limited. This project aims to fulfil this niche.

To achieve the goals, partners will carry out the following activities: establishment of an outdoor event place; purchase of equipment for the implementation of events; preservation of cultural traditions and development of colourful, joint cultural programs; presenting and promoting the cultural and natural values of the settlements participating in the project and neighbouring municipalities. 800-year-old villages participating in the project put a great emphasis on the preservation of cultural traditions and folk customs. The events of Felsődobsza and Peder already attract many visitors from both sides of the border. Since 2012 the municipalities have maintained good relations and have cooperated in organization of joint events and programs. 800+ project aims to continue this cooperation. Folk culture and untouched natural environment may be attractive for visitors interested in rural tourism, so the number of tourist arrivals in the region may increase in the long run.
