The Hungarian Hidden Treasures Down Association and Liberta of Slovakia have been successful partners for many years. Our goal is to implement common professional programs on both sides of the border. These programs will help to improve screening methods for children who may need early childhood development but are affected by social exclusion, and to help them improve their quality of life, acceptance and integration into society. One aim of our program is to organize workshops for 30 specialists twice a year. Hungary is better at special education and Slovakia is better at healthcare therapies, and these workshops will help the specialists get to know each other's professional innovations, so they can implement them into their own practice. We also plan cross-border "family-visits" twice a year: once at the Hidden Treasures Down Association, once at Liberta Slovakia. With these parenting forums, our aim is again to learn from each other. In Hungary, we are planning to set up information and advice points on 10 occasions in 4 peripheral areas of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, where special educators will offer screenings and advice for 0-6 year olds and their parents. Both in Hungary and Slovakia more and more young children should receive early development, but not everyone gets the opportunity. With our project, we want to provide this by increasing our capacity, improving our tools and creating short films to help bring the peripheral communities closer to society. We also want to make parents aware of how important it is that their young children receive professional care as soon as possible, and help them recognize if their child needs early development.
